"Liberty! The American Revolution” (still available on DVD) is where it begins for me... it explains everything about how America came into existence starting in 1765: that took 11 years for the idea to ferment; 7 years to win the war; 4 years to savor the victory; then 4 months during the summer of 1787 to compose a radical new plan for a radical new government that was finally culminated in 1791...to make it all seem like it was an overnight success.
As a new nation that used to be 13 colonies "it turned the world upside down!" And all we need to do to get to the next level of life on earth is follow their example by making the the whole world right-side up again, finally, with a whole new radical form of government on earth (of and for the earth) that will create a radical new world order that will put nationalism and capitalism out of business as nations and corporations all defer to a worldwide re-organizational plan that will keep them from tearing our world apart.
The American Revolution took the story of "Life on Earth" to the next level (as far as they could in their time) they invented a new way to govern a new nation that was created out of 13 colonies that, for a long time, had a hard time getting their acts together. But they worked it out and compromised and (until lately) it was enough to keep their story (and the story of "Life on Earth" going).
What American revolutionaries did in their lifetime (between 1765 and 1791) (and how it happened) was so
improbable and unlikely that it took a long time for a lot of people to comprehend (much less believe) it happened. (But it sure set the tone for what everyone should know by now that, if you think big enough, anything is possible!)
One secret of the success of the American Revolution was that they Declared Independence (and then signed the document that declared that) which totally Solidified the notion that they were serious and that hanging together or hanging separately was where they were...which is maybe where we need to be if we wish to declare that we wish to become, The United People of Earth (or maybe the United Neighborhoods and Peoples' of Earth) or whatever? Not just nations (united or otherwise) because nations being united or no longer a viable possibility or sensible approach...if we ever wish to ever have Peace on Earth.

What the founding fathers and mothers did in Philadelphia in 4-months during the summer of 1787 (when they created a whole new
form of government that had never existed on earth before) is what we must do...only more so and one better...as if we only have 4-months left to do it because, it might be all the time we have left to create a whole new
world order and government on earth that is based on neighborhoods not nations before it's too late… and then take
it from there to see where it goes.
